Program Overview
Maritime Professional Training, commonly known as MPT, is a private maritime training school in Fort Lauderdale that has trained commercial mariners, yacht professionals, and recreational boaters since 1983.
Its South Florida campus combines classroom instruction with engineering labs, waterside training facilities, firefighting and sea-survival training sites, training vessels, and three full-mission bridge simulators. MPT’s S.M.A.R.T. Center provides realistic shiphandling, navigation, tug, and maritime assessment simulations.
Training and Career Pathways
MPT offers training for new and experienced mariners working in the commercial shipping and yachting industries. Programs include STCW Basic Safety Training, U.S. Coast Guard captain’s licenses, deck and engineering officer training, license upgrades and renewals, Dynamic Positioning, navigation, shiphandling, firefighting, survival, and other specialized maritime courses.
Students may complete individual courses or combine several courses into a larger career or licensing pathway. Training options range from entry-level safety courses to programs supporting advancement toward Mate, Master, engineering, and other professional mariner positions.
